Diplomatic League Global Events
View-spirationFollowing last year’s success on the first ever Diplomatic Ball, members of the Diplomatic League once again dressed to the nines in this year’s ball, which was held on April 1st at the DFA-UNIO in Pasay. Entitled, “Latin Night”, this year’s theme paid homage to the Latin-American presence in the Philippines, with special guests from the Brazilian, Panamanian, Argentinian, Mexican, Peruvian and Venezuelan embassies. Indeed, guests took home with them a newfound appreciation for Latin-America, evident in the smiles that were plastered on their faces upon leaving.
Event HorizonThe Diplomatic League hosted its first summit at the Department of Foreign Affairs, which entailed Philippine Foreign Policy Recommendations made by Diplomacy students. As the primary organization of International Affairs students in the Philippines, Diplomatic League aims to be the voice of the youth in these kinds of matters. D-League President, Mr. Christian Mark A. Cardenas reiterated, “The best way we will be heard, is through collective voice.” Attended by Diplomatic League member schools, observer schools, and guests from Ateneo de Zamboanga University and University of Southern Mindanao, various Foreign Policy recommendations were presented in the aforementioned event.

Diplomatic League Meetings and Assemblies
View-spirationPhilippine Ambassador to New Zealand and diplomacy.ph Secretary General Amb. Jesus R.S. Domingo, urged diplomacy students to unravel the diplomats within them through the perspective of “universal diplomacy” in the Diplomatic League Regional Assembly held at the Federal Restaurant, Makati City last October 29. The ambassador discussed on the students the three tracks present in diplomacy; Track one – dealing with governments, Track two concerning sectorals, and Track three, entailing people-to-people relations. Amb. Domingo further elaborated on the concept of Universal diplomacy, a perspective that all three tracks are equally important as what Traditional Diplomacy gives little importance to the two remaining tracks. The universal perspective on diplomacy manifests that everyone is a potential diplomat, the Ambassador had stated.
Event HorizonThe Diplomatic League had another successful event, a seminar on Multilateral Negotiations with Mr. Miguel R. Bautista Chief of Group Liason United Nations Conference on Trade and Development as speaker. The seminar served as preparation for the officers of the D League in future events to be hosted. Special thanks to Mr. Miguel R. Bautista and UNIO Assistant Secretary Gary Domingo.
